We are
An Abstinence-based Recovery project employing both Group-Working and one-to-one sessions and, through our key-working system, are focused on person-centred planning. We have regular reviews (which allow for inter-agency attendance), a Service User Involvement Group, a Family Support Group and Parenting Classes. The programme includes:
A range of counselling methods is used in our person-centered work. Resettlement Support is an important provision of our recovery programme which may extend to six months or more.
We work in partnership with community agencies and we are pleased to offer drugs education to schools.
Referral/admission process
We accept referrals from:

Our recovery programme for both houses has been shaped by previous participants over 21 years through our Service User Involvement Group (SUIG). Service users will continue to influence the work through their participation in the SUIG; we have evidence of constructive change being implemented through this mechanism.
Over the next six months, we plan to undertake research through informal focus groups with: current service users, past service users, staff, and family members. This research will explore how our recovery programme can best continue to meet the needs and aspirations of service users, including what we need to change in order to improve.
Our staff and volunteers are all former drug users, and they bring this ‘lived experience’ to their work with current service users. Some of our staff and volunteers are former residents.
Strengths based
This is integral to our approach, as we believe that, with support, each individual has the strengths and the capacity to become drug free and to live a productive life.
Through group-work and 1:1 sessions we identify the strengths of service users and the obstacles to them achieving a healthy lifestyle.
The peer mentoring programme users volunteer mentors who have overcome their addiction and are now able to use their past negative experience as a positive asset to help others.
We use community assets (local support groups, NA, and other fellowships) to help service users re-integrate into their community.
Using our networks and connections to various national groups and organisations (Scottish Recovery Consortium, Scottish Drug Forum the Scottish Recovery Network), we can draw on a wider set of strengths and understandings. This informs how we work.

Outcomes
Outcomes are measured by maintaining Total Abstinence from all drugs including alcohol, and although our Women’s House has only been operational for 8 years, we are now achieving over 65% success for those completing the programme. We also measure holistic outcomes with the Outcome Star Tool.
